Static Mafia is an electronic and AI music producer with a foundation built on service and creative innovation. A humble military veteran who served multiple combat tours, he grew up in Lawrence, Massachusetts, before relocating to Tampa several years ago. His journey led him to embrace music therapy as a means of managing PTSD.
This therapeutic path evolved into a dedicated artistic pursuit as he taught himself electronic music software and the use of AI prompting tools. The Static Mafia project was born from a desire to push the creative limits of electronic music by seamlessly integrating AI-generated layers with traditional production methods.
After years of intensive production, Static Mafia manifests a must-listen experience, creating a sound that incorporates his diverse love for music, which ranges from Dance/House, Hip-Hop, Trap, R&B, Reggae, Bachata, and Jazz, often adding in eclectic, unexpected elements. His music influences also surface through reimagined mixes of songs he grew up loving, and in title naming conventions used to pay homage to those who inspired him.
His production process is distinctive: he writes the lyrics and makes the core beats, then employs AI to add unique, full layers of sounds and instruments. For vocals, he uses roughly 70% his own voice to establish the melody and rhythm, leaving about 30% to be generated through his own AI algorithm to add a touch of spontaneity to some of his music, but utilizes heavy autotune and AI to shape the final vocal vibe. Importantly, he often keeps his own voice for ad-libs or as a subtle layer in the manipulated vocals, ensuring a layer of personal authenticity in his unique, full sound…which includes some glitchiness that he refuses to smooth out or remove in order to showcase the progress of current times in music technology.
