Static Mafia FAQ
Background & Origins
Q: Where are you from?
A: I grew up in a city just outside of Boston called Lawrence, MA, which many simply call "Law-Town." I lived there and a few other surrounding cities until I joined the military at the age of 20.
Q: Where do you live now?
A: I moved to the Tampa Bay area back in 2020. After bouncing around a few cities to get a feel for the area, I now live in Tampa, Florida.
Q: Are you a military veteran?
A: Yes. I served in the military as both a Marine and a Soldier for approximately 11 years. I participated in three combat tours of duty with three different units, which allowed my skill sets to be utilized in combat zones to support special operations and team up with other units to accomplish mission directives.
Music & Production
Q: How long have you been making music?
A: I started writing and freestyling rap when I was 9 years old as part of a friend clique. I later got into electronic music production when I was about 15.
Q: Do you write your own songs, literature, and quotes?
A: Yes. I have been writing songs and short stories since I was 9 years old and love to articulate my feelings based on my own personal experiences as well as tap into my creativity.
Q: Is your music original and real?
A: Yes. All my songs are authentic with copyright protection. I am an electronic music producer who uses all available electronic tools to create sound by any means necessary in order to get the exact sound I'm looking for to tell my story.
Q: What music genre do you fall under?
A: As a songwriter and music producer who loves music of all genres, this is not a simple question to answer, as I write and produce based on my feelings of the moment. If I had to say what I predominantly produce, Soul, Dancehall, Funk, House, Rock, Country, Glitch-Hop, and Jazz would be the answer — until Multi-Genre becomes a primary option on music platforms.
Q: Who are your musical influences?
A: I grew up on my mom's collection of 1950s and 60s Doo-Wop, Bebop, and 70s Soul. As I developed my own taste, I naturally gravitated toward that sound and fell in love with music by Roger Troutman, Zapp, New Edition, Michael Jackson, Eric B. & Rakim, Keith sweat, Barrington Levy, Daft Punk, Staind, T-Pain, Sam Hunt, Linkin Park, SicIck, Skrillex, and Timbaland.
Personal Philosophy
Q: Do you perform your music live?
A: I do not consider myself a performer or a singer; I am a writer and a producer of musical storytelling. I just love making music, and to be open with you, music is my therapy and my happy place. I don't do it for fame or to become rich — I would do it even if there was nowhere to distribute it.
